Why Now? The Next Chapter of Hope
Why now? This is a question we've been asked often as we prepare for Furnish Hope's next chapter. The answer goes far beyond expanding our space.
Because The Need Has Grown
Furnish Hope has been providing hope for families and individuals across Central Oregon for more than seven years. What began in Megan Martin's living room has grown into a mission that furnished 668 homes in 2025 alone.
Looking back, it's incredible to see how an impossible dream has become something that changes hundreds of lives each year. Through the generosity of our community and the dedication of our volunteers, hope continues to reach people when they need it most.
So why change? Why now? What makes this next chapter different from the first seven years?
As Furnish Hope has grown, so has the generosity of our community. Each year, more referral agencies partner with us, meaning more individuals and families are being connected with the household essentials they need. Time and again, our community has responded with incredible generosity, often providing exactly what a family needs at exactly the right moment.
What hasn't grown is our space. For the past seven years, we've operated from donated warehouse space generously provided by the Hackbarth Family and FlexPack. But one peek into our warehouse today will tell you we’re simply running out of room.
Thanks to Storage2U, SMAF Rents, and Les Schwab, we've been able to rely on shipping containers for overflow storage. But temporary solutions can only take us so far.
Because Everyone Deserves Choice
This campaign isn't simply about building a bigger warehouse. We're creating a place where every individual is welcomed with dignity and offered choice as they create their home.
For seven years, our incredible volunteers have thoughtfully selected furniture and household essentials they hoped would best serve each person, and they've done an amazing job. But we've always dreamed of something even better: inviting people to choose the items that feel like home to them.
Again and again, we hear the same thing from those we serve: difficult circumstances have taken away so many of their choices. While they're deeply grateful for what they receive, many tell us they would love the opportunity to choose their own furnishings.
After all, isn't that something we all value? The ability to choose, to express our personality and interests, to have the dignity of choice and to create a home that reflects who we are.
Because Hope Is About More Than Furniture
Our vision for Furnish Hope’s next season is about far more than a larger building. It's about cultivating a space that welcomes every person as a guest. It's about listening to their story, looking them in the eye, and giving them back a small but meaningful piece of what life's circumstances may have taken away. It’s about human connection and creating a place where hope is experienced, not just delivered.
We can't wait to welcome our community into this next chapter.
