Our New Home: The Work Ahead
The Next Step in Bringing Our Vision to Life
Nine months ago, Furnish Hope took an extraordinary step forward by purchasing our permanent home in the heart of Bend. For the first time, we have a place of our own and the opportunity to reimagine how we serve our neighbors for years to come.
But before we can create the welcoming, guest-centered experience we envision, we first need to invest in the building itself.
As we’ve gotten deeper into our nearly 100-year-old building, three critical infrastructure needs have emerged:
$80,000 — New HVAC System
The three units serving the front 10,000 square feet need to be replaced. We’re grateful to Bend Heating & Cooling for donating their services, leaving approximately $80,000 needed for equipment.$100,000 — New Insulation
Years of roof leaks have damaged much of the existing insulation, which must be replaced to create a safe, comfortable and energy-efficient space.$800,000 — New Roof
Rainwater currently pours into the back of the building during storms, making a new roof critical before we can safely store furniture and mattresses there. A full roof replacement is estimated at $800,000.
These aren’t the glamorous parts of creating our new home, but they are essential: a dry roof, heat in the winter and proper insulation.
There’s Room For You
We’re deeply grateful to Empire Construction and the many businesses, donors and community partners already contributing funding, materials, expertise and services.
And there is still room for you. Financial gifts, donated materials or professional services, volunteer skills and connections to others who may want to help - all of these move us closer to our $2 million capital campaign goal.
What Comes Next
Once permits are approved, several months of construction remain. We hope to begin welcoming guests in the first or second quarter of 2027 - not simply to receive furniture, but to choose the pieces that will help them create a home.
